The Association of Pet Dog Trainers Australia offers a fantastic educational opportunity for the exceptional shelter employee or shelter volunteer who has an interest in and commitment to using positive training methods to improve the chances of adoption for the dogs in their care.

The winner will receive:

  • 3 day registration to attend APDT Australia’s Annual Conference 2011*
  • a certificate of appreciation
  • a profile in the APDT Newsletter.

The Award is generously sponsored by The Canine College

The winner will be notified by 17 September 2011 to allow time to make arrangements to attend the 2011 Conference and the Award will be presented at the Conference.

The deadline for receipt of applications for the Shelter Worker of the Year Award is 1st August 2011.

*The Award is not transferrable or redeemable for cash and is only valid for attendance at APDT Australia's 2011 Annual Conference.

Criteria

Applicants must be financial members of APDT Australia to be eligible for this Award.

Members may apply or be nominated for the Award.

Applications should explain why this person should be considered for the Award and show how the applicant clearly demonstrates their commitment to using positive training methods to improve the chances of adoption for the dogs in their care.

Submitting Your Application

Applications must be submitted on the 'Shelter Worker of the Year Award Application Form' (pdf - 143Kb) available for download from the APDT website or on request from the Secretary ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A letter of support must accompany each application from the shelter's CEO or Manager indicating why the candidate is deserving of the Award and how the shelter expects to benefit from their attendance at the APDT Annual Conference.
